Five Notable Facebook Limitation Facts

Be A Fan!

Be A Fan!

If you are on Facebook, you may or may not be aware of the following five notable Facebook limitation facts that exist as of this date:

1) You can have up to 5,000 friends on a personal profile.

2) You can belong to 300 groups max.

3) If you manage a group, you can no longer send messages to your members after you reach 5,000 members.

4) You can “be a fan” of 500 pages max from your personal profile.

5) If you have a Fan Page, there are no limitations to how many fans you can have .

- NOTE:  “Facebook Pages allow artists, businesses, and brands to showcase their work and interact with fans. These pages come pre-installed with custom functionality designed for each category. For example, a band Page has a music player, video player, discography, reviews, tour dates, a discussion board that the artists can take advantage of.” – Facebook

If you have your own business or organization, or you are a celebrity, artist, musician or band, creating a Fan Page is the way to go.

Unfortunately though, unless you are a major brand, Facebook has not yet provided an automatic friendly URL for sharing purposes to easly navigate to specific Fan Pages.  Until the option arises, you can utilize the “Memorable Web Address” application or an URL shortening site like tinyurl.com or bit.ly for sharing easily.  You can take it a step further with tinyurl and create a custom tinyurl, although bit.ly has the ability to provide the option of monitoring how many click-through’s your link has received.

As an example, Virtually Ready has used http://companies.to/virtuallyready and http://tinyurl.com/BeOurFan for sharing our Fan Page easily.
